The treasurer report was presented by Bob N4CU. A motion to accept the report as read was made by Richard KE4BFX and seconded. The motion carried unanimously by a show of hands to accept the motion with no opposing votes.
The repeater report was presented by Steve N4GXX. The D-Star 1.2 GHz Antenna has been installed. However, we feel the cables leading to the top of the tower might have moisture in them. More testing will be accomplished before a definitive answer is put out. Thank you goes out to the members who participated in the tower climbing event both tower climbers and ground crew.
The training report was presented by Scott AC5LT with Ron KI5FR present. The code class originally had 5 members attending. However, over time folks have dropped out due to various reasons.
The report was presented by Phil N6COP. The website W4AAZ.org is operating with no problems. Phil has placed photos of the D-Star tower party on the web.
The station report was presented by Richard W4RLR. The station is operating well. It is open on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. for those wishing to use equipment they don’t have. Anyone wishing to use the station radios should feel free to contact Richard W4RLR to set up times even if Sunday afternoon is not convenient.
One item that needs to be purchased is a Signal Link so that we can receive PSK31 and RTTY. A motion was made by Richard W4RLR to purchase this devise. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously by a show of hands to accept the motion with no opposing votes. Bob N4CU stated he will purchase the Signal Link and Ron KI5FR volunteered to buy the cable and crystals to make the computer compatible. Ron has the freedom to choose the cheapest cable etc.
The 940 radio needs two 3 volt batteries purchased for logic and LCD functions. Richard W4RLR stated he would purchase these items and then install into the radio to improve operations.
The club's existing tower needs the guy wires tightened. There was discussion about who and when we would accomplish it. However, no firm date was set.
The Triplexer box has been repaired and due to be installed back into the station any day. This will allow three frequencies to be tuned off one antenna at one time.
Bob WA6VVA will place fence posts in the ground behind the fire station so that Cal W4GMH can ask the power company to place telephone poles in the ground so that we may install different antenna’s to operate from. Approval must come from the store owner and also the fire department.
The ARES report was reported by Bob N4CU. Shelter walk troughs are scheduled in the future. FEMA has many forms that must be filled out for the shelters. We must follow their instructions on completing the forms.

Cal W4GMH discussed that we should offer a scholarship to new Hams under 21 years of age to keep their interests peaked. It’s been past history that young folks study hard to get licensed but loose interest after gaining that license possibly due to lack of funds, no driver’s license or radios.
Cal W4GMH made motion to offer an ARRL membership scholarship for one year to new hams under 21. Motion was seconded and carried unanimously by a show of hands with no opposing votes.
Phil N6COP made a motion to establish a pool of loner radios for these new hams. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously by a show of hands with no opposing votes.
Bob N4CU discussed the possibility of an APRS Digipeater being placed in the club allowing a bridge between Defuniak Springs and Milton. There was a lot of discussion as well as Jerry N8PXE stating he operates his own digipeater under his call sign. This has a large footprint and we don’t want to wake up the entire region with a large foot print. Mapping and testing will be investigated by the Repeater chairman N4GXX. This digipeater must remain powered at all times.
Jerry N8PXE made a motion to establish an APRS digipeater in the NOARC club house. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously by a show of hands with no opposing votes.
Foxhunt weekend is 14-15 May 2011. We need to get folks together to participate in this event. All you need is a tape measure beam and an offset attenuator. Let’s get ready to participate.
Bob N4CU made a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously by a show of hands with no opposing votes.
