August 12, 2010

This meeting was called to order by Club President Bob N4CU followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the invocation.

The treasurer’s report was presented by Cal W4GMH. A motion was made to accept the report as read by Glen K4GAG. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously by a show of hands to accept the motion with no opposing votes.

Repeater Report:

Steve N4GXX stated the repeater was working well.  D-Star is still not operational yet.  We still have programming issues.  The bullets are working but more work is needed on the gateway.  Cal W4GMH stated occasionally you can hear noise on the 36 machine that sounds like the strobe noise again.  After investigating by both watching the strobe flash and listening to see if they strobe flash equaled the noise, it was found not to be the problem.  Foley has a radio that when their 585 Henry amp transmits it comes across our 36 machine.  This problem is being investigated by folks outside our organization.

Training Report:

Ron KI5FR had no report.  Ron did state that in a few weeks he would be heavily involved in college courses that will improve his future employment.  Once these sets of courses are complete, he would be more attentive to the amateur radio needs as far as training goes.

Website Report:

No report.

Station:

Cal W4GMH would like someone to take over handling the Sunday afternoon training as well as taking care of the station equipment.  With our current station and antennas, what an opportunity for anyone to come out and use equipment that you don’t have at home especially if in a residential area that restricts antennas.  Usually an Elmer with and extra license is available for training also.  Richard W4RLR volunteered to step up to the plate on Sunday.

ARES Report:

Bob N4CU reported there would be Red Cross Shelter training on 14 August at 8:30 a.m. in the Red Cross building in Crestview.  Those volunteers who stated last month that they would work in shelters should attend.

Activities Report:

  • October 15 – 16 Jamboree on the Air (JOTA)

Old Business:
