October 8, 2009

  

The meeting started with the pledge of allegiance and a Prayer led by Bob-KI4MEU.

  

Attendance:

The meeting was conducted by Club President, Bob-N4CU and there were 14 members present.

 

Secretary Report:

Minutes for September 2009 have been posted on W4AAZ.ORG website.  Motion to accept the minutes as posted was made by Richard-KE4BFX and seconded by Richard-W4RLR. Motion approved by a show of hands, no opposing votes.

  

Treasurer Report:

Bob-KI4MEU reported a current balance of $2,589.67. Motion to accept the report was made by Jerry-N8PXE and seconded by Richard-KE4BFX. Motion approved by a show of hands, no opposing votes.

 

Repeater Report:

Bob-N4CU reported they changed the cavity cans from 4 to 6.  Cal-W4GMH reported that we might have to move antennas down 20' to determine if that would remove the strobe noise.  Also he is negotiating with Cox Communications to get a D-Star Internet gateway service at the club site.

 

Training Report:

Ron-KI5FR stated no report at this time.  Bob-KI4MEU did ask about a General

Training Class.  Ron said maybe sometime in the near future. 

 

Website Report:

Phil-N6COP reported he would be putting a membership application on the website, once approved by the club officers.

 

Station Report:

Cal-W4GMH reported the new schools on Redstone Rd. would be bring in  portable generators for testing in about 2 weeks.  Some members will be needed to test the antenna setups at both schools and to work on reducing the SWR on the one at the elementary school.

 

Emergency Operation Center:

Bob-N4CU reported on October 03, 2009. Northwest Panhandle had an exercise in Santa Rosa & Okaloosa counties dealing with ARPS.

  

Activities Report:

On Saturday October 10, 2009 - Scout Fun Day at the Fairgrounds.  Volunteers are Bob-N4CU, Cal-W4GMH, and Richard-KE4BFX.

 

On Saturday October 17, 2009 - JOTA  at Dorcas FD.  Volunteers are Bob-N4CU, Cal-W4GMH, Chayne-KI4WBN, Jon-KI4UMT, Joe-KB4LSL, and Bob-KI4MEU doing digital.

 

Old Business:

Cal-W4GMH and Bob-WA6VVA sold the Collins S-line-HF to an amateur in Destin for $1,200.00.  Motion to send a check for $1,200.00 to a family member of Paul Machlan-WA5MET (SK) was made by Bob-W5RE and seconded by Richard-W4RLR. Motion approved by a show of hands, no opposing votes.

  

New Business:

Directors of the Club- Bob-N4CU, Cal-W4GMH, Glenn-K4GAG, and Bob-KI4MEU held a short meeting prior to the regular meeting and voted to recommend changes in the By-laws as previously directed by the membership at the March 2009 meeting.

 

Change Article VI: Dues, Section 1 to read; There shall be two classes of membership. 

Full Membership - will be $20.00 per year, due on January 1st of each year, or prorated at $5.00 per quarter of a year for new members.  Full membership is open to licensed amateurs.  Full membership includes all club privileges as well as rights to hold a club office and to vote on all matters.

 

Associate Membership - will be $12.00 per year, due on January 1st of each year, or prorated at $3.00 per quarter of a year for new members.  Associate membership is open to any licensed amateur who wishes to support the operation and maintenance of the club repeater(s).  The Associate membership is also open to any person in a class leading to an amateur radio license or anyone interested in amateur radio.  Associate members shall have all club privileges except to hold office and to vote.

 

Motion to approve the by-laws change was made by Richard-KE4BFX and seconded by Richard-W4RLR.  Motion approved by a show of hands, no opposing votes.

 

Bob-W5RE is going to climb Stan Cable's tower to get antennas removed on

October 09, 2009.

 

Bob-KI4MEU discussed taking the 45' Tower behind the FD to a Tailgate or Hamfest to sell for $50.00 for members and $100.00 for non-members.  Motion was made by Bob-KI4MEU and seconded by Jerry-N8PXE. Motion approved by a show of hands, no opposing votes.

 

Cal-W4GMH has 5 rolls of RG-8 he would like to sale at $35.00 per section.  Each roll was sold to Bob-KI4MEU, Jerry-N8PXE, Phil-N6COP, Ron-KI5FR and Richard-W4RLR.  Also Cal has tower arm for sale.  These are items that came off the Courthouse in Crestview.  The funds will go into the club treasury.

 

Program:

Cal-W4GMH discussed “Elmer Project” that we did last meeting.  Mike-KJ4FNA and Joe-KB4LSL along with Bob-N4CU and Jon-KI4UMT talked about getting together.  Joe-KB4LSL discussed D-Star dongle for Tech. Night on October 22, 2009.

 

There was a round table discussion by members.
